Luciano Spalletti and Fabio Pisacane have both been handed one-match suspensions after their heated confrontation following Juventus’ 1–1 draw with Cagliari, bringing disciplinary consequences to a tense evening in Sardinia.

The confrontation erupted after the final whistle, when Spalletti approached the Cagliari coach and accused his side of wasting time. Pisacane challenged the accusation, and the exchange quickly escalated, forcing members of both coaching staffs to intervene before referee Matteo Marcenaro dismissed both managers.

The frustration reflected a difficult evening for Juventus. Daniel Maldini had put Cagliari ahead before Randal Kolo Muani equalised late in the second half. Juventus pushed for a winner, with Kolo Muani also striking the crossbar, but could not overcome a Cagliari side that has emerged as one of Serie A’s early surprises under Pisacane.

Speaking to DAZN afterwards, Spalletti played down the confrontation, explaining that he had praised Cagliari’s football while also accusing them of wasting time. Pisacane offered a different perspective, expressing disappointment that the exchange had not ended with an embrace and suggesting that Juventus’ frustration demonstrated how seriously opponents now regard his team.

Serie A’s sporting judge subsequently suspended both managers for one match, citing Spalletti’s provocative conduct and Pisacane’s reaction, which further escalated tensions between the benches.

For Cagliari, the result preserved their place in Serie A’s top four and reinforced the progress made under Pisacane. Juventus, meanwhile, left Sardinia five points behind the league leaders, with Spalletti’s frustration now carrying a disciplinary cost ahead of their next league fixture against Lazio.
