Gianluigi Donnarumma produced another important performance for Italy as the Azzurri came from behind to earn a 1–1 draw against France at the Stade de France.
France tested Italy throughout the evening, with Donnarumma making several important saves to keep Roberto Mancini’s side in contention. Michael Olise eventually broke the deadlock with a second-half free kick, but Alessandro Bastoni’s equaliser in the 68th minute ensured Italy left Paris with a point.
The performance highlighted Donnarumma’s importance to a national team still finding its direction. He had already been called upon repeatedly during the opening defeat to Belgium, and France presented another demanding examination of Italy’s defensive organisation against elite opposition.
As Mancini introduces younger players and works to establish a more consistent system, Donnarumma remains one of the most experienced figures in the squad. His leadership and ability to deliver under pressure provide an important foundation for a team undergoing considerable change.
Italy’s draw in Paris represents a step forward after the opening defeat to Belgium, although there is still work to be done. Against one of Europe’s strongest sides, Donnarumma once again demonstrated why he remains central to the Azzurri’s future.
