Alphadjo Cissè delivered when Italy needed him most, scoring a 95th-minute winner against Armenia to keep the Azzurrini’s hopes of direct qualification for the 2027 Under-21 European Championship alive.

Italy had spent much of the evening searching for a breakthrough, hitting the crossbar twice and seeing Luca Koleosho’s penalty saved. With the match heading towards a costly draw, Cissè found the top corner in stoppage time to secure a 1–0 victory in Yerevan.

The result sets up a decisive final group match against Poland in Pescara on Monday, where Silvio Baldini’s side must win by at least two goals to finish first and qualify directly for the tournament.

After an evening in which Italy struggled to turn its chances into goals, Cissè provided the decisive contribution. His late winner has given the Azzurrini the opportunity to settle their qualification campaign on the pitch against Poland.
